Original Source: Happy Valentine’s Day!
Happy Valentine’s day – our favourite day of the year here at Loved Up North! We hope you’re being well and truly spoilt with flowers, chocolates, mini breaks and kittens (joking about the last one, honest)!
We’re celebrating love today with this gorgeous styled session from Lily North Photography. This shoot is a riot of colour and fun, designed to inspire couples to embrace boldness and creativity on their special day. And on Valentine’s Day, what better time to showcase a palette of reds and pinks, coupled with playful props and a touch of whimsy?

The Vision
We wanted to create a shoot that was full of colour and fun. We see a lot of neutral colour schemes for weddings and whilst they are beautiful, we wanted something that would inspire couples to be brave with their colour scheme! With Valentines Day approaching, our colours of choice were red and pink, with various fun props to match the scheme, such as popcorn boxes and donuts!
With Lydia and Joe, a vibrant and smiley couple from the Lake District, as our models, the shoot captured the essence of a fun wedding where perfection takes a backseat to personality!

The Location
Originally planned for an outdoor setting, the shoot was moved indoors due to the unpredictable British weather. As much as I love natural light, the white brick backdrop of the studio beautifully complemented the vivid colours of the flowers, making them pop in every shot.

The Styling
Bold and beautiful was the theme for our décor, with vibrant red and pink florals by River & Rose taking centre stage. Lydia’s bouquet was a stunning mix of these hues, and we even created a bed of florals for max romance! Props like popcorn boxes, magazines, and playing cards added a fun touch.

The Fashion
I found some amazing dresses on ASOS which worked perfectly for the shoot. We ended up using a few and I absolutely LOVE the variation we achieved. Hopefully it will offer brides some inspiration for the various different types of dresses that are available without having to spend thousands on the perfect gown.
Some of these outfits would also be fab for a hen party or pre or post wedding celebration!

Hair & Makeup
Keeping the makeup natural allowed the florals to shine, while Lottie Haigh crafted a fun half-up, half-down hairstyle with waves for Lydia, enhancing the overall playful vibe of the shoot.

Highlights
The day was filled with laughter and memorable moments, like the balloon toss that had everyone joining in! We were practically submerged in them we had so many! I would say a significant moment was when Lydia nearly choked on some popcorn, but in the end it was very, very funny..
Our goal was to create a styled shoot that was as fun and colourful as it was inspiring, and we believe we achieved just that. We hope this shoot encourages couples to embrace their unique style and have fun with their wedding planning!
